A two-year programme that combines artistic research with the acquisition of professional skills through immersion in a cultural sector organisation (museum, art centre, gallery, publisher, artist's studio, etc.).

Application requirements

To apply, apprenticeship candidates must hold a three-year degree (DNA, bachelor's degree in fine arts) and be under 30 years of age.
 

Credits obtained in France will be recognised if they were obtained in one of the following contexts:

  • Either at a public higher education institution
  • Or at a private higher education institution, provided that this institution has been recognised by the State (approval number to be included in your application) or that the course of study followed by the candidate at this institution leads to a qualification listed in the National Register of Professional Certifications (RNCP).
     

Credits obtained abroad will be recognised if they have been obtained in one of the following contexts:
 

  • Either in a Member State of the European Union or the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, Monaco or Andorra.
  • Diplomas and credits obtained outside the countries belonging to the European Higher Education Area will be assessed for comparability with French diplomas and European credits. 
     

Documents written in a language other than French must be accompanied by an official translation into French by a certified translator.
Foreign candidates are required to have a B2 level of French.


The competition process: stages and timetable


1. Creation and validation of the administrative file: from 19 January (00:00) to 19 February 2026 (23:59) on the Oasis platform (link to follow)

The administrative file consists of the following items: 

  • Proof of identity (identity card or passport),
  • A copy of your baccalaureate or equivalent (translated into French by a certified translator for documents written in a foreign language),
  • Proof of completion of 3 years of validated higher education (180 ECTS) (translated into French by a certified translator for documents written in a foreign language),
     

Examination fees:
Candidates must pay the examination fee of €56, payable online only via OASIS.
Examination fees are non-refundable in the event of ineligibility, non-admission, withdrawal or if the application does not meet the eligibility requirements.
 

2. Submission of application documents: from 19 January (00:00) to 20 February 2026 (23:59).

Once the registration fee has been paid and the administrative documents have been validated, candidates are invited to submit their application documents on the Oasis platform. The application documents include: 

  • The artistic portfolio must be in PDF format only and consist of a single document (maximum size 20 MB). Candidates may, if they wish, add one or two video files in MP4 format (maximum length 2 minutes),
  • a CV,
  • and a letter of intent in PDF format of approximately 2,000 characters. This letter should demonstrate the candidate's desire to attend a National Higher School of Art, while describing their artistic training project and their intention to adhere to the specific functioning of Beaux-Arts de Paris (knowledge of the specificities and particularities of the institution).
     

3. Eligibility test results: 1 April 2026, during the day, on the Oasis platform and on the School's website.
 

4. Appointment booking for admission tests: from 2 April (midnight) to 3 April 2026 (11:59 p.m.) on the Oasis platform.
 

5. Admission tests: 27, 28 and 29 April 2026.
Eligible candidates make an appointment to present an artistic portfolio and attend an oral interview with the jury (15 minutes).

The portfolio consists of a selection of your work (original pieces or reproductions, as you prefer). The portfolio must be presented in a single, easily handled package with the following requirements: maximum raisin format (50x65), weight not exceeding 5 kg, easily unpacked and stored. The works must be identified (be sure to indicate your name or candidate number on the electronic files on the USB keys). Digital works must be readable on both Mac and PC.

The examinations take place on site in Paris, at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts. However, candidates residing in Corsica, overseas territories or abroad may, upon presentation of supporting documentation, request to take the examinations entirely online.
 

6. Publication of results: 2 June 2026 during the day on the Oasis platform and on the School's website.


Assessment criteria for the different stages of the competition
 

Eligibility stage
The criteria taken into account for the eligibility test are:

  • Personal expression and artistic approach,
  • Consistency of the proposed project with regard to the training offered at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts.
     

Admission stage
The criteria taken into account for the admission test are:

  • The artistic project,
  • The ability to present one's work and share one's research (inspirations, processes, etc.),
  • Cultural openness,
  • Autonomy and adaptability.
