A 2018 graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, Christine Safa has just been named winner of the Bredin Prat Prize, which aims to showcase contemporary painting. For the 2024 selection, artists are chosen for their ability to give new dimensions to the art of painting.
Christine Safa's sober, empathetic painting focuses on moments and places that are charged with emotion and retained in memory. Favouring a warm palette that acknowledges her Mediterranean origins, her work is interested in what remains present, simply but fully. Her canvases are full of relief, charged with pigments of intense colours, thicknesses and materials.
