Death of Joël Kermarrec
Artist, trained and teacher at the Beaux-Arts de Paris
It is with sadness that we have learned of the death of Joël Kermarrec. Artist, Painter, he was always faithful to the Beaux-Arts de Paris, where he was trained and taught for twenty years (1987-2007).
Born in Ostend, Joël Kermarrec studied at the Beaux-Arts de Paris from 1958 to 1963, then taught there for twenty years in the multimedia field.
A painter whose figuration leads to an unrealism resulting from a denaturation of objects, his work seduces at the very moment when it confuses and escapes us.
Joël Kermarrec imposes on the eye procedures that are those of the deconstruction of any pictorial order. Since 1964, he has exhibited regularly in France and abroad.
In the department of artistic practices, he directed the multimedia workshop where the basic conventional modes were approached, i.e. photography, drawing, etc., so that each student could choose what suited him or her during the course.
