Jule Heinzelmann, a 2024 graduate, is taking over public spaces in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine

A call for submissions was issued in 2025 to young artists from the Beaux-Arts de Paris, with the aim of creating a poetic moment in public space on two fences located near City Hall and the media library, at 20 Avenue Victor Hugo (1,500 m²) and 20 Avenue Gabriel Péri (30 m²).

The winner is Jule Heinzelmann, with a composition titled *Ce qui traverse*: “I propose to visually transform the sheet metal into a light, luminous, and almost translucent material. Through painting, the surfaces seem to absorb and extend their surroundings—blending light, color, and landscape—thereby blurring the perception of their materiality. The fence is no longer merely a boundary: it becomes an open space, giving way to imagination and dreams.”

This project is one of several partnerships developed between the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris and the City of Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine to enhance the school’s visibility in the Saint-Ouen area; since 2008, the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris has maintained a second campus in the town, which is set to expand in the medium term.
