Rémi Marcel, a fifth-year student in Tatiana Trouvé’s studio, is receiving critical guidance from Oulimata Gueye, guest curator of this sixth edition, as well as production support to create an art installation that will be presented at Saint-Eustache Church next October. He will present an installation comprising two half-columns modelled on those of the church, one being the imprint of the other, like an archaeological relic. The installation represents the process of germination: from seed to fruit, from an underground life towards the light. This journey is rendered partially visible. The duality of the works reveals a spiritual and metaphysical reflection in dialogue with the venue.

Rémi Marcel’s practice is rooted in his initial training as a chef and pastry chef and in his interest in all living environments, in their relationships of exchange and interaction, within a complete natural and social cycle. From grain to bread: from hand to hand. Food becomes a material in its own right. The artist constructs and sculpts a relationship with the living and with that which nourishes us. Seeds, plants and vegetables become tools of creation.

The Rubis Mécénat Endowment Fund is also a patron of Crush, an exhibition of work by fourth- and fifth-year students, curated by three curators, which facilitates encounters between young artists and art professionals.
