Prenez conscience de la chance que vous n’avez pas, 2023

“What is it that piques our interest in the work of an artist, singer or film-maker? The myth of artistic genius, widely disseminated in our societies, often pushes us to believe that it is a question of talent. However, my recent research on social media calls this belief into question.
As an example, less than a year ago, the singer Blaize Jenkins was a complete unknown. But on 8th July last year, in a video posted on TikTok, he was randomly approached in a park by an influencer who asked him if he was a musician. A few million views later, Blaize Jenkins has the attention of over 300,000 listeners and embarks on a tour. Through my lecture performance, I will expand on the idea that recognition and fame seem to be more dependent on a simple chance encounter in a park than artistic genius.”
