Dialogue - Anne Imhof

Anne Imhof lives and works in Berlin and New York. Her paintings, sculptures and performances have been shown internationally since 2012. Her work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions: Tate Modern in London (2019), Art Institute in Chicago (2019), German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (2017), Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin (2016), Kunsthalle in Basel (2016), MoMA PS1 in New York, Carré d'Art - Musée d'Art contemporain in Nîmes (2014) and Portikus, Frankfurt am Main (2013). She has also participated in several group exhibitions such as Tai Kwun in Hong Kong (2019), the Biennale de Montréal (2016), the Palais de Tokyo (2015), the Centre Pompidou (2015) in Paris and the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt (2014). She represented Germany at the Venice Biennale in 2017, where she won the Golden Lion for best national participation. She also won the Absolut Art Award in 2017 and the Preis der Nationalgalerie in 2015. 

Anne Imhof has been a guest professor and artist in residence at the Bildenden Künste Academy in Munich (2015), and guest artist in numerous universities including the Städelschule in Frankfurt, Yale University in New Haven and the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena.

She composed the music for her pieces Angst (2016), Faust (2017) and Sex (2019) accompanied by Franziska Aigner, Billy Bultheel and Eliza Douglas. In 2017 Galerie Buchholz released her first single, entitled "Brand New Gods". Faust, his first album, was released by PAN.
