Transnational trajectories - Seizing counter-fields

Friday 24 November 2023

2:00pm - 4:00pm

Amphithéâtre d'honneur

14 rue Bonaparte, 75006 Paris

Speakers: Kra N'Guessan (artist), Ming-Tiampo (Carleton University), Maureen Murphy (Université Paris 1)

Dedicated to the transnational trajectories of the École's students, this session will explore the possibilities of capturing and deconstructing the linearity of conventional patterns of formative narratives, particularly in the trajectories of international artists who have experienced plural formative stages.

Kra N'Guessan will reflect on his own experience and that of artists from Jacques Yankel's studio at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. Ming Tiampo will discuss the challenges of his program "Mobile Subjects. Contrapuntal Modernisms", which studies the transnational trajectories of students at London's Slade School of Fine Art.
