Katinka Bock’s work is rooted in a discursive reflection on sculpture, photography, and language. Her forms often emerge from a process where rationality and the unexpected converge. Each of her installations defines its own space and often seems to struggle against the claustrophobia of traditional exhibition spaces.

Using materials such as ceramics, wood, bronze, and copper, she creates forms that explore temporality and space, territories and their inhabitants, as well as their histories and rumors.

Katinka Bock studied in Berlin, Paris, and Lyon. She was a resident at the Villa Medici in Rome. Her recent exhibitions include the Marta Herford Museum (2026) and Art By Matters (Hangzhou, 2026). Among her major institutional solo exhibitions in recent years are Light Society (Beijing, 2024), the CRAC Occitanie (Sète, 2023/24), Artium (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2021), the Kestnergesellschaft (Hanover, 2020), the Centre Pompidou (Paris, 2019), Pivô (São Paulo, 2019), Lafayette Anticipations (Paris, 2019), the Mudam (Luxembourg, 2018), the Kunstmuseum Winterthur (2018), Mercer Union (Toronto, 2017), the Kunstmuseum Luzern (2016), and the Henry Art Gallery (Seattle, 2013).

Her works have been featured in group exhibitions around the world and are included in numerous private and public collections, notably at the Musée national d’art moderne (Paris), the Henry Art Gallery (Seattle), the Jumex Collection (Mexico), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), and the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart (Germany). In addition, Katinka Bock has created several sculptures for public spaces.
