Born in England in 1988, Jack McNiven graduated from Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2011.
Since 2018 has been teaching drawing and morphology at RUBIKA in Valenciennes as well as Beaux-Arts de Paris. He explores forms in movement through the techniques of drawing and painting. He uses morphology to dissect his subjects - humanity, animals, landscapes - paring them back to their lines, impulses, folds and wrinkles. Notably working with chalk on a blackboard, his drawings appear and disappear, recreating the ephemeral nature of all movement. Recent exhibitions include: Atelier Meraki in Paris (2017), Château de Neublans in the Jura (2013) and Strand Gallery in London (2011)
