Born in 1964 in Libreville (Gabon), Myriam Mihindou lives and works in Paris. Trained at ESAG Penninghen and later at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Bordeaux, she has been developing a multidisciplinary practice (sculpture, installation, performance, drawing, video, textiles) for over thirty years, grounded in the concept of boundaries: those of the body, memory, and territory.

Her work explores care, ritual, and the body’s memory. By working with a wide variety of materials (cotton, copper, wax, clay, sand), she creates haptic installations in which the material becomes both a medium and an interlocutor. Drawing on the physical and memorial experiences of the places she traverses, she taps into languages, histories, and knowledge to bring to light the cathartic aspect of artistic creation. Performance, conceived as an initiatory rite, and installation, designed as a space for shared experiences, form the two poles of a body of work that invites the public to become participants in a collective catharsis.

Winner of the 2022 AWARE Nouveau Regard Prize and a nominee for the 2022 Pujade-Lauraine — Carta Bianca Prize, her work is included in numerous public collections, notably at the Centre Pompidou, CNAP, MAC VAL, and the Musée du Quai Branly. Myriam Mihinou’s works have been exhibited at various institutions, including the Palais de Tokyo, the CRAC in Sète, the Hermès Foundation in Brussels, the Gwangju Biennale, and the Venice Biennale.

She is represented by Galerie Maïa Muller in Paris.
