Schlier

Drawing

Born in 1960 in Alsace, Daniel Schlier graduated from the École des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg (Sarkis studio).

A painting teacher at HEAR Strasbourg (1991/2017) and HEAD Geneva (2007/09), he took up his post at Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2017. At once painter, draftsman and engraver, Daniel Schlier aims to contain the complexity of the world in his painting. Using multiple media - canvas, marble, glass, wood - his works can be seen as just so many possibilities of generating a new world. The various faces, landscapes and grotesques are like organisms, constantly struggling with the very elements that constitute them. His work has been exhibited, among other places, at the Grand Palais (Paris, 2006), MAMC in Strasbourg (2007) and at the Beijing International Art Biennale (2009).
