For this 2023 edition, the museum is welcoming the artist Victoire Mangez, who is proposing a collective project based on selected works by Jean-Jacques Henner.
Victoire Mangez graduated from the Beaux-arts de Paris in 2021. Worn tiles, grotesque ornamentation and spectacular fountains are all points of departure that enable her to develop her thoughts through a play of rebounds and analogies. Victoire Mangez is the winner of the Prix Dauphine pour l'Art Contemporain (2023), and curated the exhibition "Eaux d'artifice" at the Palais des Beaux-arts in Paris (2021) and "Olifant" at the Château de Moyen, Lorraine (2017). She has also been working with Ulla von Brandenburg since 2021.
Her end-of-residency exhibition will run from 4 October to 11 December 2023.
As soon as it reopened in May 2016, the Musée national Jean-Jacques Henner affirmed its desire to develop a dialogue with contemporary art and, in partnership with Les Beaux-Arts de Paris, created an artist residency. Each year, an artist from the school is invited to create at the museum, in the studio located above the winter garden, and to allow himself to be immersed in the works of Jean-Jaques Henner, the Dubufe house and the artistic abundance to which this place bears witness. The works produced will be presented at an exhibition.
