Places to create, places to heal

The global health crisis of 2019 brought the issue of the relationship between health, public and private spaces back to the forefront, renewing reflections on the personal and collective relationship to illness and care. This period seems to have accelerated a general awareness of the need to rethink the links between care environments and living spaces, between health and culture, reminding us that education and care are fundamental relational acts in our society. How can we participate in our democracy, as suggested by the Verstohlen Charter, by creating caring environments through a process of inclusion and citizenship? How can we rethink the relationship between art and care through encounters and the willingness of healthcare teams, artists, patients, actors in the art world and patrons?

In a context where mental health is a major national cause in 2025, the École des Beaux-Arts (the Fresco & Art in Context and Artists & Exhibition Professions departments) in partnership with the Anouk Foundation are offering a study day devoted to the bridges between art venues and healthcare facilities. Through presentations, round tables, case studies and feedback, this day will explore the relationship between artistic practices and health issues.
