Margaux Laurens-Neel, a 2021 graduate, presents her end-of-residency exhibition at the Musée Jean-Jacques Henner in partnership with the Beaux-Arts de Paris.

Henner, le ruban, la braise is an invitation to explore a lush, colourful new garden of delights populated by flowers, birds and voluptuous female figures crowned with Alsatian headdresses, the feminine accessory so dear to the painter Jean-Jacques Henner.

Margaux Laurens-Neel's masterful 7-metre-long painting, ceramics and photographs make these ribbons dance on the heads of her new naiads, strong, powerful women who echo Henner's models today.

Margaux Laurens-Neel is the sixth artist in residence to be invited to create at the Musée Jean-Jacques Henner. Set up in 2017, this collaboration with the Beaux-Arts de Paris enables emerging talents to create work that resonates with the museum's premises and collections.

Margaux Laurens-Neel, born in Deauville in 1997, is a Franco-British painter, photographer and sculptor. She lives and works in Paris. She graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2021, and trained with Joann Sfar, Éric Poitevin and François-René Martin.

She also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and in Berlin.

Today, Margaux is supported by Galerie Droste, which recently offered her the opportunity to present her first solo show. Through a sensual dialogue between painting and ceramics, she explores the place and representation of women in the history of art and figurative art, the ways in which the naked body is represented, and the expression of feminine desire, through symbolic bestiary, the language of flowers, but also that of clothing, accessories and colour...
